PostEx Shopify Integration & Merchant API Setup Guide

Published: 2026-09-19• Verified Fact Check

Quick Summary

PostEx connects to Shopify and WooCommerce through official plugins and APIs. These can book parcels automatically, fulfil orders through the seller portal and create tracking numbers of 11 to 14 digits. Follow the instructions PostEx gives for your own account, and keep your login details private.

Why connect your online shop to PostEx?

PostEx says it connects with Shopify and WooCommerce through official plugins and APIs. The aim is simple: parcels are booked automatically, orders are fulfilled through the seller portal and tracking numbers are created for you.

For a shop that gets orders through Shopify or WooCommerce, this means less copying of order details by hand. But the seller should still check that the buyer’s address, phone number, parcel details and cash amount are right before a parcel is booked.

PostEx has said these connections exist, but it has not published technical details such as addresses, formats, fees or set-up steps. So we do not try to recreate them here.

Start with your PostEx seller account

Start with your seller account and the current set-up guidance from PostEx. The screens, permissions and access method can differ between accounts and may change. Follow PostEx’s current instructions, not screenshots or checklists from other websites.

Protect account access

Do not paste your login details into a chat, an email or a browser add-on you do not trust. Only give access through PostEx’s official set-up for your shop. If a developer helps you, give them only the access they need, and remove it when the work is done. Contact PostEx if a login request looks strange.

This independent guide cannot see seller accounts, create logins or fix a live connection.

Connecting Shopify: check the current steps

PostEx supports Shopify through an official plugin or an API connection. Once PostEx gives you the current method for your account, test it with a few orders before you rely on it in a busy sale. Check that each parcel matches the right order and that the tracking number shows where your team expects.

We could not confirm details such as which settings to use for your shop address, default weights, warehouse, labels or app permissions. Ask PostEx for the right instructions and keep a note of the settings you choose.

WooCommerce and custom API connections

PostEx also supports WooCommerce. If you use its official plugin, follow PostEx’s own guide to install it and link your account. A shop with its own custom website can use the API route PostEx provides for that seller.

Do not assume that settings or status names from another courier’s tool work the same way with PostEx. Ask PostEx for its current technical guide, test the connection carefully and check what action books a parcel. This stops you sending buyers a tracking number before the parcel is really booked.

Tracking numbers and updates for buyers

Once a parcel is booked automatically, PostEx creates a tracking number of 11 to 14 digits. This number links the shop order to the actual parcel. It is useful for customer support because it points to the parcel, not just the order.

Check what your own shop does about customer messages. We cannot promise when an email, SMS or order update is sent. Before telling buyers they will get automatic updates, place a test order and see what happens.

Buyers who have a tracking number can use the order tracking guide to see how public tracking works.

When a connection needs help

First check that you are using the current connection PostEx has approved for your account, and that the order has all the details it needs. Note the order number, the time and the exact error message, without sharing passwords or keys.
