Paying at the door

PostEx Payment on Delivery: Ways to Pay at the Door

A simple guide to PostEx Payment on Delivery in Pakistan. It explains how paying by card or QR code at the door usually works, when it may be offered and how to stay safe, compared with paying cash.

From Cash to Paying Another Way

For many years, online shopping in Pakistan has relied on cash on delivery (COD). Buyers like it because they pay only when the parcel arrives. But it has problems too: buyers need the exact cash, riders carry a lot of money, and waiting for change slows deliveries down.

PostEx offers both courier and payment services. As well as normal cash on delivery, it has a service called Payment on Delivery , which is meant to let buyers pay at the door in ways other than cash, while still getting the parcel in person.

Supported Doorstep Payment Mechanisms

We could not check exactly which payment methods PostEx offers, or where. It can depend on the seller’s account and on your area. These are the ways digital payment at the door usually works with couriers:

Method 1

Card machines

Some couriers give riders a small card machine, so you can tap or insert a debit or credit card at the door. Ask the seller or PostEx whether this is offered for your order.

Method 2

Payment links and QR codes

Some couriers send a payment link, or show a QR code, that you pay with your banking app. Only use a link or code that you are sure comes from PostEx or the rider in front of you.

Method 3

Cash on Delivery Fallback

Cash is the safe choice. If a payment option does not work because of a weak signal or a bank problem, you can still pay in cash.

How Paying Without Cash Usually Works

If your order does offer another way to pay at the door, the steps are usually simple:

  1. The rider arrives and tells you the amount: When the rider comes, they show you the parcel and the amount to pay, as printed on the label.
  2. Select Digital Payment: Tell the rider how you want to pay. The rider sets up the payment on their device, or shows you a code to scan.
  3. Execute the Transaction: Tap or insert your card, or scan the code with your banking app, and approve the payment.
  4. Electronic Confirmation & Handover: When the payment goes through, you should get a receipt or SMS, and the rider hands you the parcel.

Is Payment on Delivery Available for My Order?

Paying without cash may not be offered on every order:

  • Merchant Integration: The seller may need to have Payment on Delivery set up on their PostEx account.
  • Delivery Route Equipment: Card machines, where used, are more likely in big cities than in small towns. In some areas, riders may only take cash.
  • Always Keep Cash Backup: To avoid a missed delivery if a payment does not go through, keep enough cash ready as a back-up on delivery day.

How to Pay Safely at the Door

If you pay by card or phone at the door, follow these simple safety tips:

  • Verify the Terminal Display: Before you tap or insert your card, check the amount on the screen matches the amount you owe.
  • Shield Your PIN: If you need to type a PIN, cover the keypad with your hand.
  • Retain Electronic SMS Confirmations: Afterwards, check you got an SMS from your bank. Keep it with the parcel label, in case you need to show the seller later.
  • Watch out for fake links: Only scan a QR code shown to you by the rider at your door, or a link you are sure comes from PostEx. Never pay through a link sent by an unknown WhatsApp number.
